HEALTHCARE
The safety of your patients and staff is one of your top priorities in your healthcare facility. When relying on products to keep everyone safe, you want to make sure that they are tested by a reputable agency.
In one study investigating shootings which occurred in hospital settings from 2000 through 2011, it was discovered that there were 154 shootings, with a total of 235 victims, either injured or killed. Of these 154 events, 59% occurred within the hospital itself. Of the shootings that took place in an emergency department, 23% of them involved the perpetrator using a security officer’s gun. Shootings were also more common in larger hospitals (greater than 400 beds) (Kelen, Catlett, Kubit, & Hsieh, 2012).

BUSINESS
The most common place for active shooting situations to play out is in commerce areas – businesses, restaurants, office buildings, and the like.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, most active shooter situations occur in private businesses. An FBI study showed that commercial businesses were the sites of 95 of the 220 active shooter incidents between 2000-2016 (including malls).
